World Bank Updates Global Poverty Line to $3.00 per Day

• The World Bank has raised its international poverty line from $2.15 to $3.00 per person per day, reflecting updated purchasing power parities (PPPs) released by the International Comparison Program (ICP) in May 2024.

• This adjustment, based on new PPPs which convert currencies into a common unit while accounting for price differences across countries, will significantly impact global poverty measurements and requires recalculation of poverty statistics worldwide.
