Scientists propose seeding Mars' atmosphere with nanoparticles to create a greenhouse effect

• American and European planetary scientists have proposed seeding the atmosphere of Mars with iron or aluminum nanoparticles to create a greenhouse effect and make it more habitable for humans.

• These nanoparticles would rise into the upper atmosphere and reflect sunlight, increasing temperatures by over 30 degrees Celsius and melting the polar caps.

• The nanoparticles can be produced directly on Mars using local resources, making the process of adapting the planet to human life less resource-intensive than previously thought.
