Bangladesh General Elections Explained



• Bangladesh is set to hold general elections on February 12th, where approximately 12.7 crore voters will elect representatives for 300 seats in the Jatiya Sangsad and vote on the July charter.

• The election features 2,034 candidates, including independents, minority Hindu candidates, and women, with 51 out of 59 registered political parties participating, primarily divided between the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and an 11-party alliance that includes Jamaat-e-Islami and the National Citizen Party (NCP).
