Raman Research Institute Develops Portable MRI Machine

• Scientists at the Raman Research Institute (RRI) have developed a compact magnetometer, a device capable of detecting magnetic fields with high precision, potentially revolutionizing medical imaging.

• This new technology offers a quieter, portable, and more affordable alternative to traditional MRI machines, making it suitable for smaller clinics, mobile units, and rural healthcare settings.

• The RRI's magnetometer utilizes a Raman-Driven Spin Noise Spectroscopy (RDSNS) technique, which uses laser beams to analyze the spin noise of rubidium atoms to measure magnetic fields.

• Unlike conventional magnetometers, this all-optical method is immune to common interferences and can operate in noisy environments, overcoming limitations of existing technologies like Optically Pumped Atomic Magnetometers (OPAMs).
