Iyyappanthangal's Stagnant Rainwater Problem Due to Inefficient Drainage

• Following recent rains in Chennai, Iyyappanthangal residents are facing severe waterlogging issues due to the failure of local authorities to desilt stormwater drains before the northeast monsoon, resulting in stagnant, foul-smelling water accumulating in areas like EVP Park Avenue.

• Residents like Senthil Kumar and P Murali highlight the inefficiency of the drainage system, citing the uselessness of newly constructed drains and the reverse flow of sewage water into residential areas, causing health concerns and disrupting daily life.

• Despite complaints, the Iyyappanthangal Village Panchayat has only promised to take action to remove the stagnant water, leaving residents worried about the lack of long-term solutions to prevent future waterlogging incidents and the overall poor maintenance of the drainage infrastructure.
