Medical Student Dies After Alleged Ragging Incident in Gujarat

 

• A first-year MBBS student named Anil Methaniya tragically lost his life in Gujarat's Patan district after allegedly being subjected to ragging by senior students. The incident occurred on Saturday, November 18, 2024, at the GMERS Medical College and Hospital in Dharpur.

• According to eyewitnesses, Methaniya and other junior students were forced to stand for nearly three hours as part of the ragging ritual. During this time, they were required to introduce themselves to their seniors.

• Methaniya suddenly fell unconscious and was rushed to the hospital, where he was declared dead. The college authorities have initiated an investigation into the incident and assured strict action against those responsible if found guilty of ragging.

• The deceased student's family is seeking justice from the college and the government. The incident has highlighted the ongoing issue of ragging in educational institutions, which can have severe and even fatal consequences.
