Kailash Gahlot's Resignation Highlights Rift Within AAP

• Kailash Gahlot's resignation from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) was the culmination of a growing rift within the party, stemming from the division of portfolios after Manish Sisodia's arrest in the Delhi liquor policy case.

• Gahlot, who held several key portfolios including health, education, law, and finance, felt sidelined when some of his responsibilities were redistributed to other party members, including Atishi, who is now the Chief Minister of Delhi.

• The rift between Gahlot and the party leadership became evident during the Independence Day flag-hoisting ceremony, when Gahlot was chosen to perform the duty instead of Atishi, who was initially designated for the task. This incident further strained relations between Gahlot and the party's top brass.

• Gahlot's resignation letter cited the "dwindling credibility" of AAP on issues such as cleaning the Yamuna river and the renovation of the Chief Minister's residence, which has been criticized by the opposition BJP.
