Cyclone Sitrang Intensifies; Heavy rain Rain Alert For Bengal, Northeast
The whether department has anticipated weighty downpour and solid winds in West Bengal and the northeast as cyclonic tempest 'Sitrang' escalates and moves towards Bangladesh.An Indian Flying corps (IAF) plane conveying 69 faculty from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) arrived in Agartala today. A sum of 119 NDRF personnel will be deployed in Tripura to counter any aftermath from the cyclone.At 11.30am today, the cyclone lay around 300km south and southeast of Sagar Island in Bengal, as per the India Meteorological Division (IMD).
As per IMD, the cyclone is probably going to heighten into an extreme cyclonic tempest and cross the Bangladesh coast between Tinkona Island and Sandwip, near Barisal, in the early hours tomorrow.
